Pupil Premium
Information on how Ormiston Beachcroft supports disadvantaged learners through the Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is a government-funded initiative that allocates additional resources to schools and academies to support pupils who are eligible for free school meals. This funding is intended to help reduce barriers to learning and improve educational outcomes for pupils from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Although the funding is targeted at particular groups, the approaches developed through Pupil Premium provision often have a positive impact across the wider school community.
At Ormiston Beachcroft, promoting fairness, inclusion, and high-quality outcomes for all learners is a key priority. We are committed to ensuring that every pupil has access to a broad, age-appropriate curriculum, alongside meaningful enrichment opportunities that support both academic progress and personal development. Where appropriate, this also includes supporting pupils to successfully re-engage with mainstream education. Pupil Premium funding is used strategically to narrow achievement gaps, raise aspirations, strengthen confidence, and improve long-term life chances.
Our support includes a range of practical and targeted interventions, such as access to a free breakfast club, assistance with school uniform, reading intervention programmes, social and emotional assessments, and close collaboration with statutory and voluntary agencies. Alongside this, we provide a varied enrichment offer designed to develop pupils’ cultural capital and wider experiences.
Further details can be found in the document below, which outlines our Pupil Premium strategy, including key priorities, planned actions, anticipated impact, and the challenges faced by some of the most disadvantaged pupils in the borough.
